Bev and Steve Coffman from Fort Defiance, Virginia, opened this business in 2004. After eighteen years of assessing each client’s needs, carefully measuring and installing of these quality Graber products, Steve and Bev decided to retire to spend more time with family and travel. Through the networking of friends, the Coffmans’ learned to know Theda and Dawn.

Theda grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania alongside a family agri-business. Theda came to the Shenandoah Valley to attend seminary at Eastern Mennonite University. After pastoring for several years in Colorado and Ohio, she relocated back to Harrisonburg. She is delighted to be serving folks in the greater Shenandoah Valley area with their needs for shutters, shades and blinds.

Dawn grew up on a farm near Hershey, Pennsylvania. She earned an MBA and has held various roles as Assistant to the Provost, Budget Officer, Registrar’s Office, and Advancement Division in three different higher education institutions. She has enjoyed working behind the scenes to support and tend to the needs of university administration. Now ready for a change, she is eager to apply her business skills to ensure that Shutters Up continues to serve the people in this area.

In the summer of 2022 the transition began with Theda working full time with Steve on sales and installations. Theda Good and Dawn Kreider are now the new owners of Shutter Up. They are eager to put to use their love of home renovations. They enjoy seeing the transformation that window treatments provide in your home or office.
